When You Are Missing Some Key Experience
February 19, 2019
When you are interviewing “a bit over your head” or in an industry with which you are not familiar, you might as well acknowledge it. Be honest and confront the issue right up front. Tell the person who is interviewing you how you will go about filling in the gaps. Pre-think this and have a plan. And if you have been in a similar situation before where you had to “learn on the job,” make sure you tell those positive stories. If you have some well-known people who can vouch for your ability to pick up new things quickly, include them in your list of references.
