The Purple Envelope
September 4, 2018
I give credit for this idea to my friend Marty Whealy. It is GREAT. When you have grandkids living out of town, start doing this when they are old enough to understand—as early as eighteen months. Whenever you send them anything, put it in a purple envelope. I mean a shiny,purple-foil-pouch kind of envelope. Address it in cute ways, and they will come to understand those special envelopes are always from you. Send something as small as animal crackers, candy, or a little toy—or maybe a book or T-shirt. The excitement on those little faces is just too precious. I include in my envelopes a simple photo of the grandchild and me together that I printed off my computer—just a reminder of how much I love them and how much fun I am! Have your daughter or daughter-in-law save the envelopes so you can pick up a pile to reuse.
