The Important vs. The Critical
March 4, 2019
We all are incredibly busy. Days fly by. There is so much on your to-do list that some days you just can’t breathe, and you have important stuff on your plate for the next week as well. So many people are counting on you. I could take the time here to list all that is on my plate, but what’s the point? We generally do what is immediately needed, not what is critical. You get it.
STOP and ask yourself: is the CRITICAL STUFF done?
Do you have a will that is up-to-date that you are happy with? Do you have the guardians figured out for your children? Are you avoiding a medical issue—have you had a colonoscopy, mammogram, prostate screening, or stress test? Did your kids get that vaccination? Do you have the extra EpiPen? Each of us has different things on our “critical” list, but we all share a tendency to push the list into the future. People, is there anything really more important? Build time into your life. Set a couple of times a year—the same times each year—to adjust your priorities and make sure you are focused on the critical. People are counting on you to be in charge of the critical.
