One Guest, One Set of Towels

We have a lake house. Our whole family loves having guests. Sometimes we cram in fifteen or twenty guests. But the thing that almost did me in was the towels. We have plenty of towels, but we couldn’t keep up with the laundry. No one thinks; they just take another towel!

So we made a major change. Each guest who comes now gets assigned a set of towels for the stay. I had them embroidered with different sayings in different colors: “Cocktails at 7,” “Boating Anyone?” “We love our Lake,” “Sunsets and Rainbows”, “Bare feet welcome!” Use them as you want, and if you want to wash them every day, go for it.

We originally bought twenty sets of green towels . . . and I later embroidered them. If we were starting over, I would go for a different color for each set of towels. It makes a huge difference and, frankly, keeps me sane.
