Sometimes you are with your child when the verbal words “I love you” just can’t be spoken. So when my children were very small we had a secret code. Three quick hand squeezes meant I LOVE YOU. I will tell you I used that well into their teens. They would grin and bear it as they got older, but it sure did make me feel good.
