The Kitchen Window Box

I love flowers on my windowsill.  So, when I was building our new home in Chicago,  I told my contractor that I wanted a deep window box that ran the length of the window by the kitchen sink.  I asked him to line it in metal so that it didn’t leak. I wanted to be able to drop six-inch pots into the box directly from the garden center (four-inch pots would also be fine if the well of the box was built up to accommodate them).  It is a luxury, but it’s oh so very pretty. It is one of my very favorite looks in my home, and it is so easy to water the plants right in their own planter box. Just a fun thing to do if you are a flower nut like me.
